Most Rev. Dr. Vincent Mar Paulos

Profile

His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Vincent Mar Paulos serves as the Metropolitan Bishop of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy of Marthandam. As the Chairman and Manager of Malankara Catholic College, he provides visionary leadership and spiritual guidance, ensuring the institution remains committed to its mission of holistic education and societal transformation.

Born on 20 February 1964 in Kumarankudy, Kanyakumari District, to Kochupillai and Maria Thangam, His Excellency was nurtured in faith and learning. After completing his higher secondary education at Yettacode, he entered St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Thiruvananthapuram, answering the call to priestly vocation.

His Excellency's academic journey reflects a deep commitment to both sacred and secular knowledge. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from St. Mary's Malankara Seminary and a Bachelor's degree in Theology from St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Kottayam. He further distinguished himself by obtaining a Master's degree in History and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree. In pursuit of theological excellence, he was awarded a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from Rome.

Priestly Ministry

On 2 January 1991, he was ordained a priest at his home parish in Annakarai. His priestly ministry within the Eparchy of Marthandam was marked by dedicated service in numerous capacities. He served as Parish Priest, Protopresbyter, Correspondent of MSC schools, Member of the Education Board, Director of Children for Unity, and Member of the Commission for Liturgy. His academic acumen found expression as a Professor and later as Registrar of St. Mary's Malankara Seminary, where he shaped the formation of future priests.

Episcopal Leadership

His Excellency was appointed as the Bishop of the Eparchy of Marthandam on 25 January 2010. He was consecrated as Bishop on 13 March 2010, and the installation took place the same day. As the Bishop of Marthandam, he has tirelessly worked for the spiritual and temporal welfare of the faithful while extending his benevolent leadership to the educational apostolate.

As Chairman and Manager of Malankara Catholic College, His Excellency has been instrumental in guiding the institution toward excellence. His vision emphasizes holistic education that integrates intellectual formation, moral values, and service to society.
