History of the Department:
Department of Biochemistry, Malankara Catholic College, Mariagiri was established with Undergraduate course in Biochemistry in the year 1998 by the Malankara Diocese of Marthandam. The first batch of students passed out with flying colors in April 2001, fetched 13 ranks including the second rank. Thereon the department has been flourishing in academic excellence and career development. The department was further upgraded to the Post graduation level in the year 2007 with sophisticated modern laboratory equipment and eminent teaching faculty. The department is efficiently administered with highly qualified, dedicated, experienced and well talented teaching and non teaching faculty members. The department is equipped with well furnished biochemistry and chemistry laboratory equipments. The department introduced M Phil Biochemistry course during 2010. The department is committed to empower the innovative skills of the staff members and students by conducting productive and periodic workshops, seminars and conferences. The students received several gold medals and laurels in their academic results. In addition they excelled in the co-curricular, extracurricular and extension activities at the college, university and state levels.
Biochemistry laboratory
The Laboratories are equipped with mordern techniques for cooling centrifugation UV-Visible spectro photometry, Flame photometry UV-transilluminator and Molecularassay techniques.
